MTV has added an hourlong daily morning edition, titled Total Request A.M. TRL: AM debuted April 23rd 8am ET/PT. The series will be music-driven with limited commercials and will feature musical performances, celebrity interviews, and a music video countdown. The launch of the hourlong daily morning TRL edition will be hosted by MTV News veteran Sway Calloway.
The afternoon TRL, which had been on hiatus returned to the air April 23rd, this version of the show will air in tandem with Total Request A.M. The format of the show will be altered. The afternoon MTV will have a two-hour TRL themed block from 3-5 PM instead of the TRL afternoon show, which started as hourlong before being trimmed to half-hour in January. The half-hour late-night edition of TRL, Total Request LateNight, which launched in February, will continue to air Monday and Tuesday at 11 PM before expanding to three nights in the summer and four nights by the end of the year.
All three TRL linear shows on the network will also have digital versions on digital and social media.
