Cooking with Italian Joe
Italian food holds a special place in my heart, bursting with vibrant memories of family and togetherness! π It’s more than just a cuisine; it’s a delightful tapestry woven from my Native American Blackfoot heritage and deep-rooted connections to Rome, Spain, and France. My grandmother’s legacy shines through in every delicious bite, and it all makes sense—my love for Italian food is truly a family affair!
As a little girl, Sundays were magical! After church, I would eagerly rush to Il Bellagio, where my heart would leap at the sight of a steaming bowl of pasta e fagioli waiting just for me. Oh, how I adored the white soup with spinach! There’s nothing quite like the feeling of hunger easing into bliss as I savored that warm, comforting bowl alongside freshly baked bread. Those moments are treasures I cherish and am thrilled to share with you all!Italian cuisine also brings to mind cherished times spent with my siblings and my mother. In her later years, we bonded over cooking Italian dishes together, transforming our kitchen into a haven of love and laughter. Although the recipe I’m sharing isn’t a family heirloom, it certainly captures the essence of my childhood. And while I may still be perfecting my grandfather Sonny Francis’s magical touch with wine in a sauce, I must say, Italian Joe’s recipe comes pretty close! π·✨So, let’s take a culinary trip down memory lane together, celebrating the beauty of Italian food and the warm memories it brings! Buon Appetito! π❤️
